First Lines :

‘Victor !’

I was in the lake, trying to stay cool, when I heard my name. Standing up, I felt the sun’s heat on my shoulders as I scanned the beach.

Elizabeth was signalling to me. Something was wrong.

I ran across the sand as fast as possible.

‘It’s your mum,’ said Elizabeth when I got to her.

I looked down at Mum, lying on her beach towel. Her face was burned by the sun and she was not moving. I took off her sunglasses – her eyes were open, but there was no life in them.

Victor is the son of a brilliant scientist who has become rich thanks to his cryonics institute where he preserves the bodies of dead people. Victor is young, intelligent and arrogant. When he is confronted to the death of people close to him he comes up with this crazy idea: giving life to a creature made of bits and pieces of dead bodies…
