Pool is a wordless picture book. A young boy goes to swim in a public pool. But swimmers suddenly arrive and crowd the pool. The shy boy takes a dive, looking for quietness. While swimming deep under the surface, he meets a girl his own age. Together they discover and explore a marvelous world of sea creatures.
Pool is a simple but delightful story which is about friendship and imagination. JiHyeon Lee’s pastel illustrations enhance the poetical dimension of the book. It can lead to discussions about the way we should perceive our environment: if we dare explore below the surface, we can discover friendship and wonder.
